Mysterio ate at Dong Bei Cai Guan.
When you first step into this stall, this ominous looking store front doesn't even look appetizing at all, it looks like the gloomy Chinese style stall that is sus looking, but mysterio deciding to take a leap of faith, cause good food know no bounds right.
A quick pick of the menu with their respective prices, which totaled up to $46.87, not too bad for the pricing. The main dishes that was ordered was: 1) Spicy Boiled beef with enoki mushroom
2) Homemade cold dish vegetables
3) Some chuan chuan skewers
Taste:
This unassuming stall has one of the better spicy boiled beef in the west, the beef is tender and soft, each slice is not too thick till it's too chewy and not too thin till you can barely taste it. The broth used is fragrance and consumable, not too spicy and numbing, but still got sufficient kick to satisfy your craving.
This dish has quite a lot of ingredients that comes with it. There is of course enoki mushrooms, tau ki, some xiao bai cai and lots and lots of beef slices.
Taste:
This unassuming stall has one of the better spicy boiled beef in the west, the beef is tender and soft, each slice is not too thick till it's too chewy and not too thin till you can barely taste it. Sadly, the beef didn't manage to retain all its flavor of the broth being incorporated into it, so this is a bit disappointing. The broth used is fragrance and consumable, not too spicy and numbing, but still got sufficient kick to satisfy your craving.
This homemade cold dish tasted like they add some vingear to the mixture, it is refreshing and light tasting. A very light hearted dish that is perfect as starter as well as in between heavy dishes like the boiled beef.
As for the chuan chuan, the grilled pork belly is grilled nicely, with a light touch of seasonings that isn't too heavy.
Verdict:
Mysterio rated it 4/5 stars
Taste: Grilled pork belly is great but nothing wow, the homemade cold dish is refreshing and a good mix for in between dishes to cleanse your palate. As for boiled beef, it is satisfying and fragrance, definitely worth going for.
Price: Price for this stall is definitely worth it as it is located in quite the secluded area.
Service: Fast service when you enter the restaurant, the staff response to you relatively fast, we found out there are karaoke rooms as well here for bigger groups.
