Mysterio ate at Uya 炭焼活鰻料理 (Wheelock)

Hidden in level 2 of wheelock place, you will find the aromatic grilled smell that draws you toward the restaurant. This instantly opens up Mysterio appetite. Once you enter Uya, you will notice that you are able to see their live grilling station, separate by a glass, where all the unagi is being prepared.
**Take note that it is hot when you are near the grilling station

Upon settling down, Mysterio was presented with Uya's menu. Its actually in Japanese but fret not. Their signature dish is actually hard to miss, however, if you are feeling adventurous, feel free to try some of their other dishes like wagyu rice bowl etc.

Mysterio ordered Uya's signature dish Hitsumabushi, chopped up eel served with condiments, broth, soup and pickles. There are 2 portion size available, Large where it cost $48, and Medium where it cost $35.

Looking at this sumptuous looking unagi, added with the scent fragrance to it makes you want to immediately dive in to take a bite.

As for the taste, the unagi here is cooked to perfection, with a little roasty char on the outside, with the smoky flavor incorporated into the meat. The unagi is also coated with what Mysterio believe to be teriyaki sauce. The sauce is coated onto the unagi when grilling, thus having the slightly smoky flavor to it.
**On the side note, as this is unagi (eel), there is quite a lot of bones in it, but its edible as it is relatively soft. However, if you personally feels uncomfortable with it, you can always remove the bones in the unagi.

Their signature dish also has a cute little coaster size card that give you instruction on how to enjoy it.

Mysterio made Ochazuke (rice with soup) using the dashi broth that comes with it to make this delicious mixture.

Mysterio also ordered another item on their menu, Unagi Rice Bowl. It comes with appetizer, soup and pickles. This unagi rice bowl cost $25 for small size and $33 for the medium size.
Taste-wise: This rice bowl set honestly is similar to their signature dish, minus the dashi broth, fired seaweed and wasabi. So if you are not a fan of the multiple ways to consume the unagi, this dish is a better value for money.
Verdict:
Mysterio rated it 4/5 Stars.
The grilled unagi is definitely amazing, with the smoky flavor paired with it. on top of that, the sauce that was coated onto the unagi goes very well with it. The dashi broth that comes with the signature dish is a nice mixed to it and gives it new ways to enjoy the unagi, a refreshing taste to it, with the scallions, wasabi and dried seaweeds.
However, the cheaper dish, Unagi rice bowl, is similar in terms of main ingredients and is an option to consider if you are only going for their unagi.
